Eighth House

The eighth house governs what is held jointly: shared money, debt, inheritance, tax, a partner's income, and anything where two parties' resources become entangled. It is the second house made mutual, and the practical half of its subject matter is considerably more mundane than its reputation suggests.

Its other half concerns depth. The eighth covers intimacy in the sense of being genuinely known, the material people do not discuss, psychological transformation, and the things a life is rebuilt around. It is the house where surfaces are inadequate.

It is traditionally the house of death, and this deserves a plain statement: it does not predict anyone's death, and reading it that way is both unsupported and unkind. What it actually describes is the human relationship with mortality and ending — inheritance, the practical business that follows a death, and the psychological work of accepting that things conclude. Astrology has no business making predictions of this kind and this site does not make them.

Transformation is the through-line. The eighth is where something has to end completely before anything else becomes possible, and heavy placements here often indicate a life containing several genuine reconstructions.
