The sixth house governs the texture of an ordinary day: the job rather than the career, the routines that structure a week, the maintenance a life requires in order to keep functioning. It is the least glamorous house in the chart and one of the most determining, since most people spend the overwhelming majority of their hours in it.
Work here means the daily doing rather than the public role, which belongs to the tenth. A person can have a distinguished tenth house and a miserable sixth, which describes someone with an impressive job they dislike every Tuesday of.
The house also covers service in the older sense: being useful, doing something skilled for someone who needs it, and the relationships that come with that, including colleagues and anyone who works for or with you.
Traditionally the sixth is associated with the body's daily maintenance and with the habits that support or undermine it. It is more accurate to read it as the domain of routine and self-care practices than to treat it as a medical indicator, since astrology is not a diagnostic system and should not be used as one.
The sign on the cusp describes the relationship with routine. Sagittarius here resents being scheduled; Capricorn here builds a structure and keeps it for decades.
